Umoja Orphanage Writing Competition 2016
Proceeds to Umoja Orphanage Kenya (Reg. Charity CH2110) Orphanage Kenya project (a Project of RAWCS) a project sponsored by Sunrise Rotary Club Bundaberg.
Closing date: Friday 26th August 2016
Short fiction, essay or travel article up to 1,000 words on the theme: Peace.
Winner receives Trophy and Certificate and will feature on this blog and be mentioned in Umoja Orphanage Kenya Newsletter. Second Place receives Certificate and Third Place receives Certificate.
Entry is $10 minimum donated directly to the project (give as much as you like).
Kenyan Entrant winner receives Certificate and entry is Free.
Conditions of Entry:
1. Entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not have entered in any other competition or publication.
2. Entries must be in English only.
3. Maximum of 1,000 words, typed on A4 paper, one side only, double spaced and pages numbered or emailed in Word or as a PDF. Emailed entries are preferred as all our organisers are volunteers so retyping entries to send to our judges takes longer.
4. Entrants can be residents of any country. Only East African Entrants receive free entry.
5. An entry fee of $10 or more to be paid via below link – direct to the Umoja Orphanage Kenya project.
6. Name of entrant can only appear on the cover sheet and not anywhere on the story.
7. The judges’ decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into. No entries will be returned.
8. Only the short list will be informed of the results, which will be posted on the Umoja Writing Comp, Umoja and Warm and Witty Words websites. Soon after the winner will be announced
9. Winners will be announced on all websites on during October 2016. Winners will be notified by email.
Each entry must contain: 1. Entry Form 2. Entry Fee and proof of payment 3. Cover Sheet 4. Short Story. The entry must be received by new closing date: Friday 26th August 2016.

Make your payment as a single donation, or you can choose to donate regularly to this great cause.
All funds will go direct to Umoja Orphanage Kenya through Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd. The donations are tax deductable. Organisers of this writing competition are also volunteers and donate their time and energy into finding unique and fun ways to fund Umoja Orphanage Kenya. Please be a part of it by joining this literacy incentive fundraiser which started in 2014. Thank you.
